FAQs
Find answers to frequently asked questions by our customers.
It depends on the weight and the route. Tri-axle equipment allows you to carry heavier loads within legal limits without permits in many cases. However, if the load exceeds even tri-axle weight allowances, special overweight permits may be required. Our team handles compliance and will advise you on permit requirements for your specific shipment.
Common overweight shipments include construction materials (steel beams, concrete products), industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment, dense consumer goods, heavy import containers from ocean shipping, and raw materials. If your container is approaching or exceeding 44,000 lbs, you likely need tri-axle service.
We provide overweight shipping services in New Jersey and the surrounding region, with coverage across the eastern United States. Our drivers are experienced with heavy haul regulations and our fleet includes specialized tri-axle equipment positioned at our NJ facilities.
A tri-axle chassis can legally haul thousands of pounds more than a standard tandem-axle chassis because the additional axle distributes weight more evenly, keeping each axle within legal limits. This can save you money by eliminating the need to split heavy containers into multiple shipments or obtain costly overweight permits.
You need a tri-axle when your containerized shipment exceeds the weight capacity of a standard two-axle chassis. This is common with dense cargo like steel, stone, construction materials, industrial machinery, and heavy ocean containers that max out standard weight limits.
A tri-axle chassis has three axles instead of the standard two, which distributes the load across more points of contact with the road. This allows a truck to legally carry significantly heavier loads without exceeding per-axle weight limits, avoiding overweight fines and the need for special permits in many cases.
